Both the U.S. and the Cushing Hub in Oklahoma continued with declines in crude oil storage totals. The Cushing Hub fell 500,000 barrels as of the last reporting period that ended June 20 when its total dropped to 22.2 million barrels. It previously had been 22.7 million barrels as of June 13 and at 23.7 million barrels the week of June 6.

The former Oklahoma state employee who challenged Oklahoma’s Energy Discrimination Elimination Act in a 2023 lawsuit and won a judge’s ruling which resulted in an Attorney General’s appeal still in the hands of the state supreme court died recently. But the death won’t delay the Supreme Court’s consideration of an appeal by the Attorney General of an Oklahoma County District Judge’s ruling that put the law on hold.

Bartlesville banker Trevor Dorsey says it’s time Oklahoma followed Texas’ lead in removing BlackRock Investment from being blacklisted through use of a challenged anti-ESG law. Oil and gas producers would benefit from a bill drafted in the U.S. Senate where they would get a tax credit to capture carbon emissions and bury them underground. The Senate Finance Committee’s proposal would amount to a tax credit of $85 per ton, not the $60 per metric ton as approved in the House of Representatives’ version of the bill.
