SPIRIT LAKE – The later innings of games continued to be kind to the Panthers during Saturday’s Spirit Lake Tournament. The Panthers had won Western Valley Conference games against Woodbury Central and Westwood in their final at-bat last Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Saturday’s 6-4 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and 11-5 triumph over Spirit Lake were both, extra-inning contests. “It’s not good for our hearts and our stomachs,” said Kingsley-Pierson co-head coach Haylee Halbur.

KINGSLEY – Easton Nissen feels a baseball game isn’t complete if his jersey isn’t dirty. The Kingsley-Pierson junior shortstop slid headfirst to home plate on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning last Wednesday (June 18) — his uniform top stained in brownish orange — to snap a tie and scored both runs for his squad during a 2-1 Western Valley Conference win over Woodbury Central.
