In the halls of Northeast Community College’s Applied Technology Building are several wall murals. They read, “Our Success. Built from the Ground Up” and “We Gauge Success by Results,” among other things. Such slogans hit the nail on the head -- pardon the pun -- when it comes to Northeast’s student-built housing tradition. For at least 20 years, Northeast students have built a couple of houses that are auctioned off each spring.

Northeast Community College will celebrate its students’ success with three graduation ceremonies on Friday at 9 a.m. noon and 3 p.m., all at the Cox Activities Center. At 9 a.m., the Health and Public Services, and Business and Humanities programs will receive degrees and diplomas, while graduates in Science, Technology, Agriculture and Math, and Applied Technology will receive their degrees and diplomas at noon.

The Northeast Nebraska iHub, in partnership with the Norfolk Public Library, is excited to announce the return of its annual Robotics Camp, providing local students with hands-on experience in STEM and robotics. The free camp will take place in two sessions this summer, welcoming young learners eager to explore the world of robotics and technology. The first session, designed for students entering fifth and sixth grade, will run from June 9 through June 12.

Pinnacle Bank, member FDIC, has joined the growing number of businesses investing in the Northeast Community College iHub in downtown Norfolk. Pinnacle has committed $25,000 to the project. The iHub is a 16,000+ square-foot, state-of-the-art workforce development and community fabrication facility located in the 700 block of West Norfolk Avenue.

Northeast Community College offers a variety of opportunities for students to seek internships. That was broadened to try to become an intern in Washington, D.C., working for U.S. Rep. Mike Flood. The Norfolk native represents the 1st Congressional District and is recruiting Nebraskans to become interns and work in his office. Austin Stewart, a special assistant to Flood, spoke last Wednesday, to business and other students about applying for internships.
