Durango Herald
The Durango Herald is a daily newspaper located in Durango, Colorado. It published its first issue on June 30, 1881. Just two years later, it joined forces with the Record, which began its publication in 1880, seven months prior to the Herald. While the contemporary Herald is rooted in both of these early publications, it officially recognizes 1881 as its founding year. In 1952, the Herald-Democrat and the News were acquired by Arthur and Morley Cowles Ballantine, leading to another merger. The publication adopted the name Durango Herald in 1960.
