There are two things we love over here — cabinet hardware and Etsy. And after talking about it, the river house is full of hardware from Etsy, so we thought, why not do a little deep dive and roundup? I myself have also bought knobs that I’ve loved from Etsy that I’ll show you in a bit. There is just truly an endless amount of really cool options in basically every style. Plus, there’s a ton of vintage too.

I think I can say that the majority of us love looking at beautiful homes filled with beautiful things that are often outside of our budgets. It’s both aspirational and sometimes a bummer because WE WANT THOSE BEAUTIFUL THINGS TOO. The good news is that there are so many products on the market, including so many incredible dupes or near dupes to give us the same/very similar look…but for smaller budgets. And I’m sure that it’s no surprise that Wayfair is the place to find them.

Whether or not your home’s style is “modern traditional,” modern traditional lighting is incredibly versatile, with so many really simple but very cool options. I’d say it’s the primary lighting style Emily uses in her projects, at least the hardwired fixtures. You could categorize “modern traditional lighting” as fixtures with clean lines, traditional shapes, in simple neutral colors and materials. Think matte black, linen shades, brass, simple curves, etc.

If I could only go to one flea market for the rest of my life, I would say, “Sorry, Rose Bowl, you are OUT!” Downtown Modernism, you have my heart… and now all of my money. And look, that’s not to say this is everyone’s dream market. It lends itself primarily to a very mid-century modern style, which, of course, may not be for you.

I’ll speak for myself in saying that my jaw hit the floor when I first saw these reveal photos come through. It’s so colorful yet not overwhelming, cozy yet refined. However, what this room is not is budget-friendly, and that’s ok. We all have different budgets, but that most definitely does not mean we all can’t have incredibly beautiful spaces.

The first Mother’s Day post I wrote was six years ago, and to this day is one of my favorite posts I’ve written. I know that saying a bona fide gift guide is a favorite may sound a little odd at first, especially given how many posts and personal reveals I’ve done, but it was in that one where I got to really talk about my mom. She passed away when I was 23, and while she’s never not a part of me, it’s never not at least a little hard. Grief is a riiiide.

IKEA really deserves more flowers than we typically give it. It’s been there for us through college, our first apartments (and beyond), but it also never stops evolving, which keeps us coming back. It’s a quiet evolution, if you will, but they keep raising the bar and this new drop is total evidence of that. Their newest STOCKHOLM collection is so good. I didn’t realize that this collection first came out 40 years ago and is now in the eighth edition.

The time of year is upon us when we tend to start thinking about shorts. We get to free our bottom limbs and run free! But we must not forget that traditional jean shorts are not the only option. Actually, let’s just get rid of zippers and buttons entirely! That’s right folks, I’m talking about cute, fashionable, comfortable pull-on shorts. In the words of Kim Cattrall, “I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself”.

And just when you think you might be close to being done a question like “What sheen do you want for your cabinets?” comes up. Or wait, does the trim need to be a different sheen than the walls?
