QUINCY (WGEM) - While summer does not officially arrive until this Friday’s solstice the warm and humid conditions that have arrived will persist for the first half of the workweek. A few isolated showers are possible tonight generally across the northern tier with the optimal threat also generally staying west of the Mississippi River in this region. While there is a near daily risk of rain MON - WED somewhere in the viewing area, there will be many hours of dry time each day too.

QUINCY (WGEM) - The Tri-States is sandwiched between a couple of low pressure systems: one off to our east across the Ohio River Valley and another off to our west across the Plains. This has allowed Gulf moisture to flow into the area bringing notably higher relative humidity values giving a more summer-like feel when outdoors. We will continue to see more of the same on Sunday for your Father’s Day.

QUINCY (WGEM) - Outdoor plans the first part of the workweek, which kicks off with Memorial Day being our ‘unofficial’ start to the summer season, will feel more like spring than not.

QUINCY (WGEM) - We will continue to see gradually warming temperatures as a ridge of high pressure keeps skies mostly sunny through late Saturday afternoon with light easterly winds. It will be clear overnight but temperatures will drop back into the upper-40s to lower-50s by early Sunday morning with winds gusting as high as 15-20 mph at times. Mother’s Day (Sunday) continues our streak of exemplary mid-May weather with highs again warming into the upper-70s to lower-80s.

QUINCY (WGEM) - Thursday will feature another bout of summer-like weather with daytime highs expected to reach the lower-80s. We’ll see periods of sun and clouds with light southerly winds of 5-10 mph owed in part to a quasi-stationary frontal boundary that will vacillate across or just immediately north of the viewing area through Friday evening.
