Explore memory, place and change in Alta (2016-2024). It’s an immersive exhibition by Marc Blake now on at Te Atamira, featuring eight years of photographs centered on a solitary basketball hoop in Kawarau Falls Park. The dreamlike installation invites reflection on memory, isolation and transformation. Blake is one of the curators of Superpartner gallery in Arrowtown and has recently made the decision to move out Queenstown to Bannockburn.

On the second Tuesday of each month, Te Atamira hosts its free Community Draw event. It encourages participants to embrace the joy of different approaches to drawing, featuring a range of techniques. The next event is on Tuesday, 8 April, and will be hosted by textile designer Lucy Jerram. Jerram will lead the night, focusing on surface pattern drawing.

Alien Weaponry have been making waves around the world’s metal scene, singing in te reo Māori. The trio have just wrapped up a successful North American tour, where they supported Kerry King of Slayer fame and they’re now back on the road in Aotearoa, heading to Tāhuna this month. The band have forged their own path since their early days in Waipū, a small town in Northland, combining English and te reo vocals in their music.
