Eating disorders are perceived within society as a “woman’s issue,” and this assumption is reflected by research. Less than 1% of all research relating to eating disorders has focused on men. This is alarming given that eating disorder hospitalizations in Canada have increased by a staggering 416% among 5- to 17-year-old boys over the past 18 years.

Ginger, an eight-month-old Sheppard mix at the Sudbury SPCA is looking for a new home as part of our weekly feature Take Me Home Tuesday. She is described by shelter staff as “lovely” and “very gentle.” Leah Earl of the Sudbury SPCA told CTV News that she came to the shelter last week with a face full of quills. “Her owners made the tough choice to surrender her to us so we could get that medical treatment for her,” she said.
