The Austin Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting near Braker Lane and I-35 The backstory: APD says the incident began as a routine traffic stop overnight in North Austin. Three people were in the car: a female driver, a male passenger and a child in the back seat. Police say the male passenger was asked to step out of the vehicle and during a pat down the man tried to run way. The man, according to police, ran towards officers and reached for a weapon.

The Austin Police Department is investigating the death of a woman in East Austin as the city's latest homicide. The backstory: Officers responded to a high priority call at The Jordan at Mueller on Philomena Street at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 27. When officers arrived, they found a woman with obvious injuries. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she died. APD says they were able to talk to key witnesses but no suspect or motive has been released.
