Early morning fire destroys Hanover home

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A family is without a home following a house fire in the Mechanicsville area of Hanover County Thursday morning. On Thursday, Jan. 23 at 12:30 a.m., Hanover County firefighters responded to a house fire on the 7400 block of River Valley Road. Hanover County Fire Chief Chris Anderson said two people and a dog were inside the home when the fire started. Two people were able to escape, but the dog did not.

Chesterfield County man dies in motorcycle crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man is dead following a motorcylce crash in Chesterfield County Sunday night. Chesterfield County police said the crash happened around 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13th, near the intersection of West Hundred Road and Chestnut Hill Road. On scene, officers found a man who had been thrown from his motorcycle. The man was later identified as Caleb Carabin, of Chesterfield County, who was pronounced dead.
Greensville County Public Schools closed Friday, threat investigation underway

GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Greensville County Public Schools will be closed Friday, Sept. 13th, as the Greensville County Sheriff’s Department investigates a reported threat. In a statement from Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Edwards shared on Sept. 12th, school leaders were notified of a threat posted on social media that referenced school safety at Greensville County schools.

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Louisa County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, August 30th. LCPS officials said the closure is due to many roads in the county being impacted by Thursday night’s storm, causing downed trees, fallen powerlines and flooding. Power outages are also impacting two schools in the county. Employees are to use Code 1.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond police are investigating a reported stabbing that happened Wednesday night in downtown Richmond. Around 10:26 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of North Madison Street and found a victim who had been stabbed in the chest. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. An investigation revealed the stabbing occured at the 100 block of West Broad Steet.

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A homicide investigation is underway in the City of Hopewell after a man was shot and killed Sunday night. Around 7:55 p.m. on August 19th, Hopewell Police responded to the 900 block of Davisville Court for a reported shooting. Once on scene, a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Tri-Cities Hospital for treatment, but died from his injuries. Police have identified him as 44-year-old Conell Gholson, of Hopewell. This is an ongoing investigation.
