The Kansas economy received a healthy sign with the release of May total tax collection amounts. During May, the State collected $657.7 million, which is $158.3 million over the estimate. Total tax collections were only down slightly, at .2 percent from the same time last year. “Surpassing estimates this month is a positive indicator, but we remain diligent and focused on maintaining long-term financial health,” Governor Laura Kelly said.

Donna Russell is one of many Emporians who open their homes to Unbound Gravel riders. With 5000-plus riders and an influx of spectators, there are not enough hotel rooms available to meet the need. Fortunately, Emporians are willing to open their doors and their hearts to riders from around the world. “I just love it,” Russell said.
