The BYD Sealion 7 was the best-selling electric vehicle last month as sales of the usually dominant Tesla Model Y plummeted in April. BYD’s new midsize electric SUV registered 743 units in only the third month on sale, comfortably ahead of its direct Tesla rival that recorded only 280 sales. The MG S5 will bring bigger dimensions and increased range for smaller-battery variants as it prepares to take over from the ZS EV in May. MG’s S5 electric small SUV moves closer to 4.5 metres in length to extend beyond the 4.3-odd metres of the Hyundai Kona Electric and new Kia EV3, and just ahead of the BYD Atto 3. Two battery sizes will be offered across two trim grades: Excite and Essence. The smaller, 49kWh battery provides up to 340km of WLTP range in the Excite or up to 335km in the Essence.

Thanks for the memories, Ford Fiesta. This (2nd hand) Mk2 1.1 Popular Plus was my first car, followed by another in the ‘90s - a Mk3 1.6 S. Make that 3 if you count the Fiesta-based Puma Mk1. #fordfiesta #partyisover https://t.co/1NBZi7fMGJ
