AbstractMacrophages play important roles in maintaining intestinal homeostasis and in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs). However, the underlying mechanisms that govern macrophage-mediated inflammation are still largely unknown. In this study, we report that RNF128 is downregulated in proinflammatory macrophages. RNF128 deficiency leads to elevated levels of effector cytokines in vitro and accelerates the progression of IBD in mouse models.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) were isolated from a comprehensive collection of human biofluids and supernatants from five cell lines. Detailed information on the biofluids is provided in Additional file 1: Table S1. In summary, the dataset consists of four types of human biofluids: plasma samples (n = 1031), urine samples (n = 28), bile samples (n = 19), and cerebrospinal fluid samples (n = 4).

AbstractCutting edge advances in electrical visual cortical prosthetics have evoked perception of shapes, motion, and letters in the blind. Here, we present an alternative optical approach using pulsed infrared neural stimulation. To interface with dense arrays of cortical columns with submillimeter spatial precision, both linear array and 100-fiber bundle array optical fiber interfaces were devised.

Housing is an important social determinant of health and well-being. Unfortunately, many Canadians, including British Columbians, do not have access to adequate housing. Statistics Canada defines a household as being in core housing need if their housing is unsuitable (e.g., not enough rooms), inadequate (e.g., in need of repairs), or unaffordable, and if they are not able to afford alternative housing in their community.
