LAS VEGAS — Missouri Jewelite was a dominant player in the commercial neon and porcelain sign business from the early-1920s dawn of neon forward. It created millions of signs from its small, two-story location on 3562 Market Street at the southeast corner of what was then Market and Grand Boulevard. (Today, it is dwarfed by an elevated segment of Interstate 40 but survives as a warehouse, resplendent in its Art Deco exterior, however dirty and neglected).

WETZLAR, Germany — The first-ever die-cast camera, dating to 1933-1934 and created by the father of modern 35mm photography, Oskar Barnack, for Leica will appear as a landmark lot in the sixth sale held by Wetzlar Camera Auctions in the hometown of Leica. The 248-lot catalog is now available for review and early bidding at LiveAuctioneers. Barnack (1879-1936) envisioned a new concept for Leica camera design just three years before his untimely death. The idea centered on a die-cast shutter crate.
