If you were growing up in the 1960s and 70s, you may not have known that many of the entertainers and sports figures who were famous during that time had served in the military.

As a follower of Jesus, I believe in treating every human being with civility and grace. And to be quite specific, I believe in loving my LGBTQ+ neighbor as myself. At the same time, because I care for the greater good of society and believe that God’s ways are best, I oppose many of the goals of LGBTQ+ activism. That’s why I was glad to see a much-diminished version of Pride Month in 2024. The pushback, which I have been expecting for years, continues to grow.

As Rwanda pauses to mourn the genocide that began 30 years ago this week, we might consider whether the identity politics of our day is paving the way for a similar time of tragedy on our shores. There has been talk of another hot civil war here in the U.S. in anticipation of a strong reaction to whatever our election results bring later this year. There are deep divisions within our population, much of which have been fueled by identity politics.

By Jim Kenaston Published on April 9, 2024 Despite all the uproar over the White House’s official proclamation of “Transgender Day of Visibility” being observed on Easter Sunday this year, it turns out it’s just one of 47 commemoration days or weeks that the LGBTQ+ community has sprinkled throughout the year — not including the entire month of June, which has been proclaimed “Pride Month.” Until last week, I was unaware that in 2009 an activist had declared March 31 to be “Transgender Day of...

With Valentine’s Day here, I’d like to relay some “old school” reflections I shared with a friend who asked for such input for her young-adult daughters. My advice will seem counter-cultural, given our current place in the shadow of the sexual revolution, but in light of the relationship carnage we see around us, and with a broadly biblical understanding of male and female differences in mind, this is what I told her.

The first time Miss Kay Robertson and her family of Duck Dynasty fame watched the new film The Blind, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. “When … Willie [Robertson] got up to talk about it, he couldn’t even talk. … It’s got those emotions.” Miss Kay spoke with The Stream’s Nancy Flory about the film that tells the story of her life with Phil before he came to Christ. It is a raw take about his weaknesses with alcohol and his rough lifestyle before he came to know the Lord.

Steely Dan's 1976 song The Royal Scam (from the album of the same name) reflects on the plight of Puerto Rican immigrants to New York City during the 1950s and 60s, people who hoped to get a piece of the American dream for themselves, only to have their hopes dashed by the hateful discrimination they experienced soon after their arrival.
