    (WAND) - It's been a waiting game and a hurry-up game today.   As farmers hurry to get more crops planted before several rounds of rain and/or severe weather, a stout cap on the atmosphere has kept us wondering when will storms erupt. A powerhouse elongated cold front from the western Great Lakes to Texas will arrive during the wee hours of Saturday morning.  In advance of this front, thunderstorm initiation has been few and far between.

    (WAND) - I once posed the question, "where does wind come from?" to a second grade class studying weather.  The consensus answer:  the sky.   They weren't completely off-base.  Wind is generated by the movement of air from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. This movement is primarily caused by the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun.

    (WAND) - To answer the question of will we see the Aurora Borealis, we first have to visit the latest CME (Coronal Mass Ejection).  This is a significant release of plasma and magnetic field from the solar corona—a part of the Sun's atmosphere.  When a CME collides with the Earth's magnetosphere, it can disturb the magnetic field surrounding Earth, leading to geomagnetic storms.
