The Scottish Early Estimation of Pandemic Influenza Antiviral and Vaccine Effectiveness (EAVE) platform was established in 2012 through funding from the National Institute for Health Research, alongside a portfolio of nine pandemic preparedness and responsiveness projects consequent to the 2009 influenza A/H1N1 pandemic.In response to the emergence of COVID-19, funding was made available by a range of UK funders to support studies that could rapidly respond to this new pandemic.
