This well-manicured field also boasts an ivy-laced covered outfield fence. What separates this venue from others is the variety of locations where you can watch the game, whether it's the shade-covered stands behind home plate, the four-tiered baseline decks, right and left field viewing decks or the high tables and bench seats. The infield features DuraEdge dirt, the only high school field so far that uses the same product as Target Field and St. Paul's CHS Field.

Three of Minnesota's top high school football players recently committed to South Dakota State and first-year coach Dan Jackson. Maple Grove junior quarterback Kaden Harney, Jackson County Central offensive tackle Weston Rowe and Rogers junior tight end Sawyer Josewski recently announced their intentions.

By Jim Paulsen The first official week of the season didn't result in much, with many games being postponed due to inclement weather. Some schools have yet to play a game. There were a few games of note that had a slight effect on the first set of Minnesota Top 25 rankings. Forest Lake junior pitcher Avery Muellner looks in top form early, throwing two-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory over tough Cretin-Derham Hall.

In Alphabetical order. All teams are in Class 4A unless notedBrainerd: I’m bullish on pitching and Brainerd has one of the state’s best in senior 6-footer Mya Tautges, who is bound for the University of St. Thomas. She’s already been in two state tournaments this year (swimming, where she won the Class 2A 50 freestyle, and basketball). This is shaping up to be the year of the [Brainerd] Warrior.
