June weather statistics will include more tornadoes for Illinois. The National Weather Service Central Illinois office confirmed 14 twisters stemming from a June 18 storm. “That puts us at 24 for the month of June,” said Illinois State Climatologist Trent Ford during a Tuesday guest spot on RFD Radio. “Illinois was coming into June tied for second in total tornadoes with Missouri,” he said. Texas leads the nation. “But that’s really not that fair because Texas is massive in size,” Ford said.

June is trying to pick a side. “For the entire month of June, we’re going to be testing the waters between spring and potential summer,” said Freese-Notis Weather meteorologist Paul Otto during a Tuesday interview with RFD Radio. “We’re going to have more of these battles during the entire month.”This week is indicative of that. High temperatures reaching only into the lower 70s Monday but pushing to 90 degrees Wednesday and Thursday.

Even in his early 4-H days, you just knew Caleb Zwilling was going to be an involved youth. The 2025 Fisher High School grad took on 13 project areas and exhibited at both the state and county fair over his nine years with the Fantastic 4-H’ers of Fisher. And that’s far from the only thing on his resume. Your browser does not support the audio element. Zwilling finishes the school year as the Illinois Farm Bureau Actively Engaged Student of the Month for June.
