1. TNT finished its 36-year run of airing NBA games on Saturday with the Indiana Pacers closing out the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals. While so much—basically all—the focus has been on Inside the NBA, we’ve all dropped the ball in talking about the network’s coverage of the actual games. This is especially true when you remember that Inside the NBA will continue next season on ESPN while still being produced by TNT.

1. When it comes to local broadcasts across sports, the homerism is sometimes laughable. Make no mistake: Every single hometown announcer wants their team to win. Nationally, it’s different. 1. I've written this many times before. And I've said this about a million times on SI Media With Jimmy Traina. But given that we are now in the middle of the conference finals, with the NBA Finals set to begin a week from Thursday, it needs to be said again: ESPN firing Jeff Van Gundy as its lead NBA analyst remains the most dumbfounding decision I've ever seen in sports media.
