Los pacientes con trastorno depresivo mayor (TDM) tienen una interacción funcional anormal entre las redes cerebrales a gran escala, indicada por una conectividad efectiva aberrante de la red de modo predeterminado (DMN), la red de prominencia (SN) y la red de atención dorsal (DAN). Los síntomas depresivos, el deterioro funcional y la disminución de la calidad de vida (CV) son tres dominios importantes del trastorno depresivo mayor (TDM). Sin embargo, la posible relación causal entre estos factores aún no se ha dilucidado. Además, no se sabe si ciertos síntomas del TDM son más perjudiciales que otros. El enfoque de red es una solución prometedora a estas deficiencias.
