1. IntroductionIn transportation engineering projects, silt subgrades are commonly encountered. Silt is academically defined as a fine-grained soil with a particle size greater than 0.075 mm comprising no more than 50% of the total mass, and a plasticity index of Ip ≤ 10 [1]. Notably, silt is prone to dust generation when dry and tends to liquefy upon contact with water, making it challenging to compact. Consequently, its suitability as a subgrade fill material is suboptimal.
