The National Transportation Safety Board has published a preliminary report on its findings for the Alaska Airlines ALK flight 1282 accident, involving a mid exit door plug that detached from the 737-9 MAX jet, leading to cabin depressurization. Investigators determined the left mid exit door plug was missing four bolts, which would have prevented it from moving upward and ultimately puled out. The NTSB’s preliminary report does not offer a clear answer to why these bolts were missing.
