4 DISCUSSION This is, to our knowledge, the first study that describes the impact of ANXA2 on epilepsy. It was found that ANXA2 could regulate excitatory synaptic activity mediated by the GluA1 subunit of AMPAR, thus exacerbating seizure activity. First, elevated ANXA2 protein expression was detected in TLE patients and epilepsy models in vivo and in vitro.
