Overview:The Amarillo Housing First building, which houses the Code Blue Warming Station, was ordered to cease operations on Tuesday because the City of Amarillo said it does not have a Certificate of Occupancy on file. According to Virginia Williams Trice, executive director of Amarillo Housing First, the AHF building at 207 N Tyler was ordered to cease operation on Tuesday.

Overview:The city council heard about the outcomes of the Coming Home and PREP Academy programs and an update about Transformation Park, which is tentatively scheduled to open on April 12. It approved amendments to the AEDC articles of incorporation and the AEDC board approved changes to its bylaws at its Wednesday meeting. The council is also to discuss its agreement with Hyde Kelley LLP at its next regular meeting; this article includes updates to the City's expenditures to outside counsel.

A few of our readers have emailed us asking about a huge construction project in the northeast part of town off the Fritch Highway. The large swath of excavation-as deep as 45 feet in some parts-is due to the City of Amarillo's multimillion dollar wastewater infrastructure expansion project: the Northeast Sanitary Sewer Interceptor. The city council approved the Northeast Interceptor project in October of 2023 when they awarded a contract of $71,266,760.15 to S.J. Louis Construction of Texas, LTD.
