An Amarillo sex offender has been indicted for four counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact after additional alleged victims contacted local law enforcement.

    Overview:Canyon's mayor declared a state of disaster after hail and high winds caused damage throughout the city. Hundreds of homes and vehicles were damaged. More severe weather is possible. A thunderstorm with reported 80-mile-per-hour winds and baseball-sized hail caused widespread damage in the City of Canyon at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Early estimates from the city are that more than 200 homes were damaged in that storm. That number is likely to rise as the cleanup continues.

    The Potter County Detention Center failed a Texas Commission on Jail Standards inspection last week. During Tuesday's meeting, Sheriff Brian Thomas told Potter County Commissioners that he knew the detention center would likely fail the inspection, and that it "...didn't even come close" to passing. Thomas said the jail is overcrowded, and when the jail population is above capacity, some incarcerated people don't have beds.

    Overview:Canyon's $14 million bond will pay for public safety projects, including upgrades of the police station and construction of an animal shelter. Canyon voters passed a $14 million public safety bond. It is the second time a bond has been on the ballot in Canyon.
