QUESTION: Is the City of Longview Crime Watch program still active? Several days a week I walk past one of their signs in my neighborhood. It is faded and leaning. I haven't seen any other such signs in the area. Many years ago there was a Longview police officer that held a neighborhood Crime Watch meeting in the driveway of the house across the street. Since then I haven't seen or heard anything about the program. ANSWER: Hello Answer Line neighbor. Yes, that sign is in sad shape.

QUESTION: What is going on with the Texas 42 project between Kilgore and White Oak? I thought construction was already supposed to be started. ANSWER: While there has been work taking place to prepare for the project, it's going to be a while before we see actual construction. Bids for the construction won't be accepted until 2027, followed by selection of the company to build the project. The Texas Department of Transportation had previously said construction would start in 2024.
