Australia will act to establish a Centre for Disease Control (CDC) by 2026. Health Minister Mark Butler announced the CDC would be located in Canberra, responding to a recommendation from the review into the COVID-19 response. The government will spend $251.7 million over four years to establish the independent body by January 1 2026. An interim CDC has been running within the Department of Health and Aged Care since last year.
