    Expect a pleasant, seasonable Wednesday evening with temperatures in the mid 50s before sunset, then falling to the upper 40s after sunset. Winds are light and skies stay mostly clear with a few high clouds. Clouds will increase late Wednesday night with temperatures dropping to near 40°.Temperatures start to climb a little bit on Thursday with upper 50s and low 60s. They remain above average throughout the weekend. The end of the week will also be cloudier than the start.

    Expect a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, some snow and isolated sleet to start this evening. A degree or two will make a difference between rain and freezing rain. Temperatures will range from 31-33 degrees, so a glaze of ice is possible in spots 32 degrees and below between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.The wintry mix will change to mostly rain after 9 p.m. and linger through the overnight as warmer air moves into the Susquehanna Valley at all levels of the atmosphere.

    Tracking back-to-back winter systems! Expect widespread light snow across the Valley this evening and early tonight. Then a wintry mix that starts as light snow becomes a wintry mix to rain late Wednesday night into early Thursday. The steadiest light snow will fall this evening through tonight, tapering west to east between midnight and 4 a.m. Watch for snow-covered to slippery road conditions late. Most areas will pick up a coating to 2" of snow.

    Over the next few weeks, Mother Nature will give us her annual show as the leaves change color in Pennsylvania. With less sunlight, the chlorophyll that makes the leaves green starts to break down. This reveals other colors that are in the leaves. Brighter colors are more likely when we have sunny, warm days and clear, cool nights through the fall.
