Every Aberdeen player must show the same commitment, drive and fight as captain Graeme Shinnie when facing Rangers. Inspirational captain Shinnie encapsulates the passion Aberdeen supporters feel for the club. The Red Army sing “he’s one of our own” in honour of Shinnie because they recognise he has the same love for the club and desire to see Aberdeen secure success. Pittodrie will be rocking as the Dons supporters unite behind the team on Sunday.

Aberdeen’s board and manager Jimmy Thelin should move to sign winger Shayden Morris on an extended contract. I was delighted Morris recently confirmed he is ready to talk to the Dons about extending his stay at the club. Morris is contracted to Aberdeen until summer 2026, so still has more than a year left on his deal. However, it would make sense to tie him down to an extended deal as soon as possible.

The clock is ticking for Kevin Nisbet to show he wants to be an Aberdeen player next season. The on-loan Millwall striker – who is on international duty this week with Scotland – has potentially 10 games left in a Dons jersey (should the club get to the Scottish Cup final). The former Hibs and Raith Rovers forward has all the attributes I want to see in a number nine, but when I watch him play, I get the impression there is more to come from the lad.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin should move to sign on loan striker Oday Dabbagh on a permanent contract. The Dons have the option to buy the Palestinian international who arrived on loan from Belgian club Charleroi on transfer deadline day. I have already seen enough of the 26-year-old to convince me Aberdeen should move to snap him up on a permanent long-term deal.

Aberdeen were right not to offer Jamie McGrath a four-year contract – even if the outcome is the midfielder moving to a Premiership rival. Republic of Ireland international McGrath has signed a pre-contract agreement with Hibs and will join them on a four-year contract in the summer. McGrath’s contract at Pittodrie expires at the end of the season and he had been free to speak to any interested clubs since the winter window opened on January 1.
