Attackers Pape Gueye and Duk should both start against St Mirren as Aberdeen bid to end a 12-game winless run in the Premiership. After four months out with a thigh muscle injury Gueye returned to action when coming off the bench in the 3-0 Scottish Cup win at Elgin City. Gueye may have been out for a long time  but he looked sharp enough to warrant a start against St Mirren. Duk also ended a near year-long scoring drought when netting a double against Elgin.

Aberdeen have began the January transfer window strongly with two impressive signings but there is still much more work to be done. The Pittodrie board have backed manager Jimmy Thelin by sanctioning the signing of Kristers Tobers and Jeppe Okkels. Aberdeen are in the midst of a 10 game winless slump and hopefully these new additions can be a catalyst to reignite the season. Securing Tobers and Okkels is a great way to start the window.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin must use the January transfer window to sign defensive reinforcements. The Dons’ defensive frailties were exposed in the 3-3 draw with Hibs at Easter Road. If you score three goals away from home you should expect to travel back to the Granite City with three points in the bag. Yet Aberdeen couldn’t hold on after taking a dramatic late lead in Edinburgh with only one minute remaining. It was two valuable points thrown away after working so hard to get ahead.

Sensational Aberdeen are shaking up the status quo of Scottish football and Celtic and Rangers must be worried. Under Jimmy Thelin the phenomenal Reds are undefeated in 16 games in all competitions, with 15 wins. Aberdeen and Thelin are challenging the Scottish football status quo and it has every member of the Red Army on cloud nine. Rangers were outclassed at Pittodrie and the Reds could have won by a more emphatic scoreline.

Aberdeen’s most important man in Glasgow on Saturday will not be a player – it’ll be the man standing on the sidelines at Celtic Park. Dons boss Jimmy Thelin is the mastermind behind the club’s outstanding start to the season and it is clear the players are enjoying playing for him. It is not hard to see why. He’s a quiet, laid-back character, but the cool, calm and collected approach has served Aberdeen well so far. Whenever I watch him on the sidelines, he is a picture of calm.
