Attorney General Douglas Moylan on Thursday said the governor “best have a criminal indictment ready for herself” if she plans to go after him and his office for alleged hiring and promotion violations. Adelup on Wednesday announced that Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero plans to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and potentially prosecute Moylan and Chief Deputy AG Joseph Guthrie for more than 70 alleged hiring and promotion violations.

Thought leaders in Washington, D.C. are floating the idea of making Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands a new state, according to former Del. Robert Underwood, chairman of local think tank Pacific Center for Island Sustainability. “It hasn’t been formalized, but there are some think tanks, conservative think tanks, that (believe) they ought to create a state out of Guam and the Northern Marianas,” Underwood told the Pacific Daily News on Wednesday.

Thousands of devout Catholics gathered in the island’s capital Monday afternoon for the annual procession honoring Santa Marian Kamalen, Guam’s patron saint. This year’s procession marks the second since the celebration resumed in 2023. The long-held tradition was put on pause for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guam Power Authority has completed most of its plans to secure the electrical grid against rolling blackouts, load shedding, and the amount of time customers spent in the dark this year is way down, according to GPA General Manager John Benavente. "People are not thinking of load shedding anymore at this point," Benavente told the Consolidated Commission on Utilities this week. He said increased reliability comes as GPA has seen some of the highest power demand in the last six years.
