Heading into the 2024-25 season, Mike Rhoades expressed confidence that his roster could make a push for the NCAA Tournament. Instead, the Nittany Lions finished 6-14 in the Big Ten and 16-15 overall, causing them to miss out on the Big Ten Tournament. Crucially, they lost 11 games by single digits, signifying that the season could’ve gone much better had a few moments played out differently.

Following a disappointing season, Penn State has some retooling to do. With five seniors graduating, and Miles Goodman, Jahvin Carter and Hudson Ward each entering the transfer portal, the team currently has nine players on its 2025-26 roster. While that’s not terribly concerning, the Nittany Lions still need to add more proven talent, especially at the forward position. Luckily for them, the transfer portal window opened on Monday and will remain open until April 22.

Barring an NIT or College Basketball Crown selection, Ace Baldwin Jr.’s five-year collegiate career concluded during Penn State’s upset win over No. 12 Wisconsin. After three seasons at VCU, Baldwin followed coach Mike Rhoades to Happy Valley in 2023 and has since left behind a productive yet puzzling legacy as a Nittany Lion. Rhoades often praises his longtime point guard, referring to him as a consistent leader and the “head of the snake” that sets the tone for Penn State on the court.

With the regular season now complete, Penn State will be on the outside looking in when the Big Ten Tournament begins on Wednesday. Though the Nittany Lions’ 6-14 conference record wasn’t good enough for a postseason berth, that doesn’t mean players can’t receive any individual recognition for their efforts this season. Earning any type of award within the ultra-talented Big Ten will be challenging. With that in mind, here are our predictions for the All-Big Ten men’s basketball postseason awards.
