BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - Manuel Oscar Ramirez on May 2 was sentenced to 40 years in prison in the murder of Bell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy John Roden on April 26, 2020. Ramirez was also sentenced to ten years in prison on arson charge for an incident that happened while he was in custody at the Bell County Jail on Nov. 8. 2024. Ramirez reportedly pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced by a judge.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) -A thrice-convicted drunk driver drove past a Waco police unit “at a high rate of speed” and refused to stop for the police officer who attempted to pull him over, an arrest warrant states. Walter Randall Ramos is facing an enhanced charge of driving while intoxicated, in addition to charges of resisting arrest and fleeing or attempting to flee a police officer, court documents state.

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - An undocumented immigrant is being held at the McLennan County Jail after he was pulled over on I-35 by a Texas DPS trooper and found to be in possession of U.S. currency he was transporting “as a favor,” an arrest warrant affidavit states. Gustavo Adolfo Santos Jaime, 31, is charged with money laundering greater than $30,000 under $150,000. Online jail records show his bond was set at $10,000.

CORSICANA, Texas (KWTX) -The Corsicana Police Department is mourning the death of Lieutenant Todd Morris, who “unexpectedly passed away from natural causes” the evening of April 27, said police chief Robert Johnson. “His loss is deeply personal, not just for me, but for everyone who had the privilege to work beside him over the past four decades,” Johnson said. Morris began his career as a Detention Officer with the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office in 1986.
