Flagged-down Florida police officers saved the life of a toddler choking on a tomato last month. The rescue happened just before 6 p.m. April 24 as Tampa police officers were on patrol when they were approached by a man about a choking boy, WTSP-TV reports. The child had been eating a tomato when he began choking. One of the officers quickly put the toddler on his knees and struck his back repeatedly. After several pats on the back, the tomato became dislodged from his throat.

A Louisiana police officer was shot and killed by "friendly fire" while executing a search warrant Monday. Rayne Police Lt. Allen "Noochie" Credeur was helping to execute a search warrant at around 1:30 p.m. in connection with an earlier stabbing, the department stated in a social media update. Officers were trying to locate the suspect when Credeur was struck by "friendly fire." Credeur was pronounced dead at the scene.

Berkeley police were called in to help evacuate nearby homes and businesses, and an explosive ordinance disposal unit from the University of Califorinia, Berkeley, responded to handle the explosive. The unit disposed of the grenade, and it was "determined to be live and capable of detonating."While the grenade was being dealt with, officers were still pursuing Kuceja. He eventually turned down a dead-end street and parked the vehicle. Officers finally apprehended Kuceja as he tried to flee on foot.

An Ohio deputy directing traffic at a college commencement ceremony Friday was run down by a man upset after viewing body camera footage of the fatal shooting of his son by police earlier that day. The incident happened at around 1 p.m. when a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy was working traffic enforcement during the University of Cincinnati's commencement ceremony, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The deputy was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
