The first rules book for flag football is completed and available for purchase the NFHS said in a release Monday. The release referred to girls flag football as “the nation’s fastest growing emerging sport.”The rules book is ready for the “pilot season” for flag football in New Jersey in the spring of 2026. The completion of the rules book is expected to bring unification to five flag football conferences in New Jersey.

It took a few seconds of thought, but Union Catholic junior Keandre Kelly said he never had to come from behind in an 800-meter race. He did on Wednesday, however. Boxed in during much of the first 400 meters by a tightly packed field, Kelly made a made dash over the final 25 meters winning the NJSIAA Meet of Champions title at Pennsauken High School. Kelly finished with a time of 1:51.01, just .27 seconds ahead of rapidly closing senior Taysaun Wilson of Toms River North (1:51.28).

Unhappy with the pace after the second turn of the final lap of NJSIAA Meet of Champions 1,600-meter race, Colt Neck’s Hunter Celkupa took matters into his own hands Wednesday. Celkupa completed an indoor-outdoor MOC sweep at Pennsauken High School when he went unchallenged over the final 50 meters, winning the race in 4:12.10. Joe Barrett from Christian Brothers was second in 4:12.86 followed by Kennan Byers of Randolph 4:13 and Dillon Devine (14:13.81) from Voorhees.
