JOEL COUNCEThe Murfreesboro PostA total of 317 school bus contractor drivers – many of them affiliated with the Rutherford County Bus Contractors Organization – have signed a new contract with the school district for the 2025-26 school year. Rutherford County Schools Director Dr. James Sullivan told the Rutherford County Budget and Investment Committee in a meeting on May 29 that 95 percent of the bus drivers had agreed to four-year contract.

Stewarts Creek then beat Farragut 15-5 in an elimination game and beat Dickson County 8-4 in an elimination game before losing to Green Hill 14-2 to end its season.

Independence jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings.

JOEL COUNCEThe Murfreesboro PostThe Rutherford County School Board passed a budget that includes a new four-year contract offer to its school bus contractors last Thursday night. Bus contractors have until May 29 to respond to the proposed contract. The current contract between the school district and the bus drivers expires June 30. The district will now allow 78-passenger buses instead of only 90-passenger buses, possibly allowing more bus contractors to drive routes.

Bill Hagerty made a quick trip to Middle Tennessee on April 21 with visits to three businesses, including two in Rutherford County. The first-term senator visited the Gibson Guitar factory in Nashville, Podium 1 in La Vergne and Wegmann Automotive in Murfreesboro. The media had access to Hagerty only at the Murfreesboro stop.
