SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Shinnston Mayor Pat Kovalck has given more details into the building that collapsed in Shinnston on Sunday morning. In an interview with 12 News reporter Barbara Ron, Kovalck said that the city does not have equipment big enough to demolish the building itself, so it has been in contact with some demolition companies and they are hoping to have the building demolished as soon as possible.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — To kick off the official first weekend of summer, the fourth annual “Rhett’s Superhero Stomp out A-T 5K” took place at Mylan Park. A-T stands for Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare genetic disease that causes loss of muscle control and balance, cancer, lung disease and immune system problems in children and young adults, according to the A-T Children’s Project.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Pride celebrations are continuing across the state, with Fairmont’s annual Pride Block Party on Monroe Street coming back this year in a big way. This year the block party extended across Monroe Street as well as into the parking lot area where Hometown Market typically takes place. According to Fairmont Pride’s President, Marshal Sherry, this was the first year Fairmont Pride was able to partner with Main Street Fairmont.

(WBOY) — With dozens of people still displaced after the Father’s Day Flood in Marion County, Fairmont State University opened its doors on Thursday to social services organizations, who set up at the Falcon Center for a flood housing assistance one-stop shop. Organizations like the American Red Cross, West Virginia Housing Development Fund and the United Way were among the many on hand to offer information on housing support and recovery resources.
