Welcome to the Brussels Edition, Bloomberg’s daily briefing on what matters most in the heart of the European Union. Just a few months ago, it was common to hear EU leaders express concern that the continent was becoming a museum. While its industry withered, there was a growing perception that Europe was simply unable or unwilling to compete against China and the US. Fast forward to now, and things are starting to look different.

Bloomberg — A União Europeia decidiu flexibilizar parte das regras para conter o desmatamento em todo o mundo, tornando mais fácil para os importadores provarem que obtiveram os documentos necessários. Ambassadors from the bloc’s 27 member states meeting in Brussels Friday signed off on a joint push for a 10 percentage-point deviation until 2027 from rules that require tanks to be 90% full by winter.

I had the pleasure of attending the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Berlin, the first in a roadshow leading up to #COP30. And the first without the US. Delegates assured one another of staying the course, but in the halls not everyone was convinced: https://t.co/q0O81Dt0bm
