The City of Philadelphia is looking to make upgrades to Market St (between 23rd St and 15th St), JFK Boulevard (between 15th St and 20th St), and 20th St (between Market St and JFK Boulevard). This will include improving the bike lanes, installing more permanent infrastructure and creating a high-quality bike connection between JFK and Market on 20th St. The project page includes a survey where you can highlight problems (and where things are working well) along the corridor.

In a topsy-turvy, unreliable world, you can always count on the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles driver’s license offices to provide some constancy. As far as providing reliably long lines and frustrated human beings, that is. One of my first columns at the Watch Dog, in November 2022, was about long, frustrating waits at the local DMV license office on Patton Avenue. Not much has changed, judging by the lines there Thursday, and from my email bag, which is full of complaints.

In the ongoing fight to make Philadelphia’s streets safer, two powerful tools have emerged to provide critical insights and foster accountability: the Traffic Victims PHL Fatalities Dashboard and the newly launched Vision Zero Dashboard. PhlTrafficVictims.org, our initiative that seeks to honor victims of traffic violence, is pending an update. In the meantime, we have updated our traffic victims dashboard in time for the 2025 Vision Zero Conference.
