As much as the story has generated a lot of buzz, I find the news of Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG to be unsurprising and part of the natural order. I am sad for the great agency legacies that will be mothballed. I am sad for the jobs that will be cut. I am sad that the holding companies do “innovation light” relative to digital and technology companies.

In some ways a reviewof an Alien film is superfluous. You wouldn’t write a thousand wordsabout a ride on a Big Dipper for instance; the only way you know what its likeis to experience it. This seventh entry in the long running saga is everythingyou'd expect from an Alien movie yet this is a good thing. Despite the familiarityit still generates so many thrills that you will be exhausted by the end. It’sa very loud film punctuated by metal clangs, steam, smoke, acid and a lot ofrunning.

Deadpool & Wolverine is a brutal buddy movie. It takes that age oldstory of two people who would never work together forced to do so for thegreater good. Its just that it takes a lot of fighting- and I mean a lot-before they do! The opening sequence sets out the stall with no holds barred - physically or narratively- hard edged yetcontaining some nuggets that make this more than just one massive series ofpunch ups.

Madame Web is not the dud thatcritics have been making it out to be, it’s a perfectly enjoyable and sometimestense thriller that can be enjoyed even if like me you don’t know theintricacies of Spiderverse lore. It is true to say though that the premisewould be more suited to the nuances of a TV series and can come across assluggish in this format. That said, when the film does ramp up it does include a couple of stand out action sequences.

Greta Gerwig's Barbie is fun and mostly fantasticWell, it’s pink. Pinkerthan the pinkest Pink Panther, carnations or flamingos. They should issue shades on entry to protect us from the eye bruising colour that shines from every poreof this bravura attempt to bring a doll to life. It seems a bizarre conceit butthen again why not? For millions of kids Barbie was / is real and they haveshared many good times with her.
