AUSTIN, Texas — Actress Chanel Maya Banks, known for her roles in "Gossip Girl" and "Blue Bloods" has been found safe in Texas, according to Los Angeles police. Banks was last seen on Oct. 30, but family members told ABC News that a tip led police to a home in Boerne, which is just outside of San Antonio, where a woman identified herself as Banks.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A shelter-in-place has been lifted at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth after police responded to reports of a "suspicious individual" who may have had a gun. Officials issued the alert just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, asking those on campus to stay indoors and keep their doors locked.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man remains in the Travis County Jail after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in May. According to court documents, Maurys Medruga-Mesa was driving a Lyft vehicle under the name "Jorge" in May when he picked up a woman in southeast Austin. After the woman got in his car, Medruga-Mesa allegedly told her how beautiful she was and started to make inappropriate comments.

AUSTIN, Texas — Authorities are responding to a deadly crash involving a train in South Austin. The crash was reported on Matthews Lane just before 4:30 p.m. Friday. Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed they were attempting to extract a person from a vehicle following the crash, but the person was later pronounced deceased.
Details on the crash are limited but drivers should avoid the area and expect delays. Austin police are also on the scene assisting.

Residents in West Texas, along with portions of Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina and South Carolina, will be encouraged to fill out practice census questionnaries in the spring of 2026.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man was arrested in East Austin after allegedly recording himself while threatening to kill a neighbor. Austin police were called out to a neighborhood on Craigwood Drive on July 17 after two people said they were being threatened with a gun. Officers arrived and found two men about a block apart yelling at each other. Both were detained and frisked for weapons, but no guns were found.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Blue Alert was issued Thursday by the Texas Department of Public Safety, but what does it mean? Texas created the Blue Alert in 2009 when former Governor Rick Perry signed an executive order designed to speed up the apprehension of violent criminals who kill or seriously injure law enforcement. Texas is one of 37 states that has a Blue Alert action plan.
Thursday's alert was connected to a deputy shot and killed during an ambush near Houston.

AUSTIN, Texas — The temporary restraining order blocking a new federal gun law aimed at expanding background check requirements has been extended.
In May, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, along with several states, sued the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), claiming that the restrictions violated the constitutional rights of citizens. The latest motion extends the temporary restraining order through June 16.

LA GRULLA, Texas — Two National Guard members and a U.S. Border Patrol agent were killed in a helicopter crash near the U.S.-Mexico border Friday afternoon.
According to federal officials, a UH-72 Lakota helicopter assigned to the federal southwest border support mission crashed at approximately 2:50 p.m. MST near the town of La Grulla, while conducting aviation operations near Rio Grande City, Texas.
One other National Guard member aboard the helicopter was injured.
