AUSTIN, Texas — A Round Rock man has pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to traffic firearms and one count of dealing in firearms without a license. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, court documents indicate that 50-year-old Job Eliezer De La Torre had been selling guns without a proper license in the time frame between Jan. 1, 2020 and Nov. 1, 2023. Investigators say De La Torre had bought 356 guns during that time with the intention of reselling them.

Both buildings are being constructed near Eastview High School on Patriot Way. Naloxone, better known by its pharmaceutical name Narcan, is medication capable of reversing potentially fatal effects of opioid overdoses, including those caused by heroin, fentanyl and prescription painkillers.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Senate has passed a bill that would rename part of a Travis County road after a fallen Austin police officer. House Bill 2415, co-sponsored by Rep. Sheryl Cole (D-Austin), Rep. John Bucy (D-Austin) and Sen. Sarah Eckhart (D-Austin), renames part of FM 969 after fallen APD Officer Andy Traylor. Traylor was responding to an early morning urgent call on FM 969 near Decker Lane in late July 2021 when a tractor-trailer made a U-turn and Traylor crashed into it.

AUSTIN, Texas — A 101-year-old building at the University of Texas will be transformed into a place to study civic leadership. On Thursday, state leaders and the University of Texas Board of Regents announced a $100 million investment in a permanent space for UT's School of Civic Leadership. The Board of Regents created the School of Civic Leadership in 2023. The money will be used to renovate UT's Biological Laboratories Building.
