Like most modern found footage horror films, AS ABOVE, SO BELOW owes a debt to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (although even that film owes a debt to the real godfather of the genre, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST). Given the fact that it’s set in the Catacombes de Paris, deep underground beneath the streets of Paris, it would be fair to assume that it’s following in the footsteps of THE TUNNEL and that film’s own antecedent, Gary A. Sherman’s DEATH LINE (aka RAW MEAT).
