BUTTE - The Southwest Montana Veterans Home in Butte was built largely on the efforts of Robert Pavlovich, and that’s why this bench was dedicated to him to honor a legacy that’s as solid as the granite this bench is made of. “If it wasn’t for Bob Pavlovich, this veteran’s home would not be here. BUTTE — Deadfall and downed timber litter the floor around the forest of Butte’s Basin Creek Reservoir, which is why forest service officials spent the past few years trying to clean up the mess — and they say all this effort could one day save Butte’s drinking water supply. “The object is to remove some of that fuel loading, make it more defensible should a start in here. BUTTE - An area in the south part of Butte is just one of the proposed locations around the state that the Department of Corrections is considering to build a new women’s prison, and local officials want to get the public’s input on this proposal. “Our primary concern is this gets dropped on our laps at the last minute and folks don’t have time to discuss their issues,” said Butte District 5 Commissioner Russell O’Leary.
