The Lightning go an 8-8 overall ledger and 4-1 in conference play, while the Bloodhounds improved their under .500 mark with a 4-12 record and 2-3 in CUNYAC action. After an 8-8 deadlock with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter, John Jay when on a 20 to 14 run to take a six-point lead (28-22) at the intermission.
