Before Joe Satriani played Eddie Van Halen’s riffs, he played some music for the guitar great. The best thing that can be said about this session is Satriani didn’t break a string. Satriani met Van Halen once, “In the old days,” as he says, of 1992. Van Halen happened by the studio during Satriani’s sessions for “The Extremist,” which would be released that year.

Alexander Hamilton graces the $10 bill. As if by fate or marketing strategy, you can see “Hamilton” in Vegas for a 10-spot. Related, a digital lottery for $10 “Hamilton” tickets at The Smith Center is being held in conjunction with the show’s first performance May 20. A limited number of tickets are available for every performance for $10 each, including fees. The lottery first opened last Friday, and closes at noon this Thursday, for tickets to performances for May 20 through May 25.

“iLuminate” had enough battery life for nearly four years at The Strat. The LED-trimmed dance production has announced it is closing on May 31. The show opened Aug. 25, 2021, the creation of computer-code wizard and show director Miral Kotb. The show had appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” bringing to the stage advanced LED technology, dazzling choreography and thundering musical numbers. Built for all ages, “iLuminate” ran for more than 1,200 performances while holding the theater’s 7 p.m. slot.
