LAS VEGAS — A pair of acts who have generated recent success in Las Vegas are booked to return. Tears for Fears’ strong headlining run at BleauLive Theater resumes Sept. 24, 26, 27; and Oct. 22, 24 and 25. The British pop-rock duo of Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal sold out seven shows at the venue, this past November and January through February.

In this case, a doctor trumps a knight. Rod Stewart is postponing his Thursday night performance at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Sir Rod posted on social media Wednesday afternoon, “I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th … My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flue. Thanks for your love and understanding.”Stewart called out of his show Sunday night, also citing illness. That performance was rescheduled for Tuesday.

Cutbacks and consolidation in the Strip’s predominant production company continue. Cirque du Soleil has enacted another set of layoffs in its ONE Cirque initiative. Company president and CEO Daniel Lamarre informed Cirque employees in an internal company memo Wednesday. According to sources familiar with company operations, the result is more than 70 positions are being eliminated among the company’s nearly 4,000 employees.

Ashlee Simpson Ross is bringing high production, and palpable angst, to Voltaire at The Venetian over Labor Day Weekend. The 2000s pop-rock icon is headlining the chic nightspot Aug. 29-30. The weekend shows arrive after the 20th anniversary of Ross’s breakthrough album “Autobiography” in 2024. Expect Ross to perform chart-toppers “Pieces of Me, “La La” and Boyfriend.”Also, don’t be shocked if Ross plays the 1,000-capacity beyond Labor Day.
