CUSHING — With District 22-2A DI playoff teams already locked in, the Cushing Galkats and Mount Enterprise Galcats headed into the week with a two-game series to see which team will represent the league as the ‘big school’ top squad. Mount Enterprise took an early 2-0 lead Tuesday afternoon at Galkat Field in Cushing, but the Galkats rebounded by building a 7-3 lead before hanging on for a 7-5 victory in the matchup of the only two DI schools in the district.

DOUGLASS — The 2025 edition of the Douglass Indians baseball team has prided itself on riding a strong pitching staff that has a sub-1.50 earned run average and a squad can produce runs when they need them the most. They did just that on Monday afternoon, cranking out 12 hits, while Russell Blackmon and Kason Standridge combined for a four-hitter in a 12-2 six-inning league win over Cushing at Indian Field.

CUSHING — In a key District 22-2A matchup before heading to the final stretch of league play, the Douglass Lady Indians used their team speed to obtain the early momentum Tuesday night, then scored 11 runs over the final two frames in a 13-1 decision over rival Cushing in five innings at Galkat Field. The victory was the Lady Indians’ third in their last four games, as they improved to 5-1 in 22-2A action, while moving over the .500 mark on the season at 8-7.
’Kats pull away from Yellowjackets late, 14-4

CUSHING — After Cushing miscues early on allowed the Alto Yellowjackets to stay in their District 22-2A matchup Thursday evening at Bearkat Park, the Cushing defense settled down, while the ’Kat offense became patient at the plate in a 14-4 six-inning win over AHS. The victory improved Cushing to 6-7 on the year, but it was a much-needed win in league play, as the Bearkats evened their district mark to 2-2. Alto dropped to 4-10 on the year, slipping to 1-3 in District 22-2A action.
Lady Owls start slow, come alive to blitz Lady Pirates, 13-3

CHIRENO — Looking to get on track in District 23-2A action Monday night, the Chireno Lady Owls (5-4) let a 2-0 lead slip way, then came alive late to score 11 runs in the fifth frame for a 13-3 victory over Martinsville (3-7) in a league matchup at Lady Owl Field. Lacey Boulet was credited with the league win in the circle for Chireno, which improved to 1-2 in district. She gave up just three unearned runs on a three-hitter, with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Beavers, Bulldogs keep Bears off-balance, 12-0

GARRISON — With Garrison head baseball coach Dempsey Compton home with a stomach virus, assistant coach — and Dempsey’s brother — Mike Compton challenged the Bulldogs to put on a strong effort against rival Timpson Friday night. He then received a two-hit shutout on the hill by Shelton Beavers and a nine-hit offensive assault in a 12-0 five-inning victory at Bulldog Field.

A lackluster offensive performance by the Nacogdoches baseball team was almost saved in the bottom of the seventh Tuesday night, as the Dragons trailed Marshall 5-1 in the final frame, before storming back and then falling 5-4 at Dragon Field in a District 10-5A matchup. The league loss was the second straight for Nacogdoches (3-9), which dropped to 0-2 in 10-5A play. Marshall (4-12) even its district mark at 1-1 with the victory.
No. 3-ranked Lady Bears blitz Lady Riders, 16-3

TIMPSON — The unbeaten and third-ranked Timpson Lady Bears spotted the Center Lady Riders a pair of runs in the opening frame, then came roaring back, as eight THS players recorded hits in a 16-3 five-inning victory at Lady Bear Field Friday evening. Timpson kept its season mark unblemished at 11-0 on the season, as centerfielder Madison Grigsby and catcher Claire Ham each recorded three hits and shortstop Taylor Stewart slammed a three-run home run on two hits.
