The 23-year-old St. Catharines woman is the only Niagara resident to appear on “Canada’s Got Talent” this season, with her episode set to air Tuesday (April 15) on Citytv, starting at 8 p.m.The problem? Her job as a paramedic might have her occupied at the time. “If there are no emergencies going on near me in that area, we’ve got a base with a TV,” she said.

It was a long overdue night of homecomings and celebration at the Niagara Music Awards Sunday. It was also a big night for guys named Spencer. Country/folk singer Spencer Burton and blues artist Spencer Mackenzie were the big winners for the show’s 14th year, held at Sheraton Fallsview Hotel. Mackenzie scooped the blues artist and album of the year awards for “Preach My Soul,” while Burton won the country artist and male artist of the year awards.

The Gale family no longer operates Gales Gas in Niagara. Gales company president Jessica Friesen, the granddaughter of founder Bob Gale Sr., announced this week that all 15 Gales gas station sites and the four Bob’s Mini Mart locations in Niagara have been sold, effective Thursday. It ends 57 years of family ownership for the company synonymous with Niagara fuel. When reached Friday, Friesen said it was the “right deal at the right time” to sell the business.

The date will be Saturday the 12th, but for some Niagara horror fans it’ll feel like “Friday the 13th” all over again. The landmark horror flick, celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, has been a part of most every Niagara Falls Comic Con and Frightmare in the Falls show since they began. On Saturday, fans can get even closer with an intimate cast reunion.
