The way artist Ashley Marazzo sees it, if there are millions of photos of Niagara Falls, there must be millions of stories as well. She can’t share them all, of course, but she’s giving plenty of local residents the chance to relate their own history with the falls for a summer-long community art project. Spread across six workshops, people can design a small piece of felt that contains a story about their personal relationship with the local waterfalls.

As Evan Rotella recalls, it was already shaping up to be a stressful week. It’s mid-April and the Niagara singer/songwriter has a gig that night. The next night, he’s performing at the Niagara Music Awards, where he’s nominated for four awards. The day after is an exam for his media and communications course at Brock University. But before all that, he finds himself in a room with other artists in Orillia, fighting for a spot at this year’s Mariposa Folk Festival.

Of all the long-winded boors Bernard Shaw filtered his voice through, none are as truly timeless as Andrew Undershaft. A man who lives under a “religion of wrongness,” according to his wife. Who makes millions manufacturing weapons and dreads the prospect of peace. Who uses 10 words when one will suffice. If he were around today, he’d have a U.S. cabinet position. He is the undisputed star of “Major Barbara,” despite the play being named after his daughter.

It wasn’t enough for the universe to send Samantha Ava a sign her life had to change. Not even two signs. By the third time, the Fisherville singer figured she better listen to these wake-up calls. During her teen years, she dove into drugs and alcohol to deal with a “severely traumatic experience.” With her life veering out of control, she flipped her Jeep into a field one night after a party. She walked away with barely a scratch.
