After a dominating performance in which she struck out 19 batters and belted a grand slam while reaching base three times, Fremd senior Hailey Lucas called the Vikings' 7-0 win on Wednesday in Palatine a great team win. That's the sign of a great team player who respects all of her teammates. And respect was all Prospect coach Krystina Mackowiack had for the hard-throwing right-hander who is committed to Southern Illinois University. "Hailey is phenomenal," Mackowiack said.

When Maine West softball co-coaches Chris Addante and Jim Dvorak watched their team claim an undefeated Central Suburban North championship in 2024, the Warriors closest call in eight games was a 2-1 decision with Vernon Hills. Those two teams opened play in the CSL North on Tuesday and it was yet another 1-run decision, as the host Warriors held on for a 6-5 decision to remain undefeated on the season 6-0.

The Dolecki family has another member headed to play Division I softball. Junior center fielder Taylor Dolecki, an All-Area selection last spring, has committed to Arizona State University. Playing for the Sun Devils has been a long time goal for Taylor, whose sister Madison recently slugged her first career homer for Belmont University.

Catch this. Barrington softball receiver Reese Cullen wears No. 7 and on Monday in Arlington Heights, the Ohio State pledge finished the day with 7 home runs for this season. It happened despite fierce southwest winds which were sending many fly balls back toward the infield making it a difficult day for outfielders.
